Bath Time Scrapbook 12 x 12 Layout

Today I'm sharing one of the scrapbook layouts I recently made.  This one is for a boy or girl and is titled Bath Time.

 

 Here is page one.  I used my Cricut to cut out the tub, bubbles, duck and title and then chalked and assembled the cute little bear.

 

 Page two.  Again, I used the Cricut for the title and the duck.

 

 I added glitter to the bubbles and I'm happy with the way the tub bear turned out.

Center Step Birthday Greeting Card

I have been wanting to make a Center Step card for quite a while, but I don't like that most don't fit in a standard A2 size envelope.  Well, I saw a card on SplitcoastStampers that used does fit in a standard envelope.  It was made using a template by Connie Babbert, so I decided to give it a try!

This card qualifies for a challenge over at Dolce Stamps and Cards (DSAC06)

 I'm really happy with the way this card turned out.  The base is Bashful Blue, and the stamp set I used was Heard from the Heart.  The pattern paper is from a holiday pack of DSP that I can't recall the name of.  The colored circles are Riding hood Red, Old Olive, Chocolate Chip, and the pattern paper I can't remember!

 

 The center section is various circle punches adhered to a piece of white and then run through the square lattice embossing folder for the embedded embossing technique.

 The circles on the center section range from 3/4" to 1 1/2"

Single 12x12 Scrapbook Page: Lovely Lavendar

I decided it's been way too long since I've made a scrapbook page, so today you get a simple single page.  I used the Vintage Wallpaper embossing folder from Stampin Up! for the texture on the mats.

 I've had the floral and the striped paper for a number of years and never used them.  Today was their day.

 Here is a close up of one of the mats.  It's Perfect Plum

 The flowers are from Oriental Trading Company--I've had these for years as well.

The border punch I used for the strip in the center is new to me.  That means that his layout works for the Something Old, Something New challenge over at SCS.

Let the Pictures Tell the Story

It's been a while since I posted pictures of any of my personal scrapbook pages. I typically show you what is going up for sale, but today's post are pages for my own album.

These are photos from a day spent at the Conservatory with my niece, great niece and great nephew (I know! At 35 who would think I'm a great aunt already! Well I am phenomenal :0) but...). We had a wonderful day and I had my husband's macro lens and 35 mm Cannon.

So, here are the layouts.

I used the positive and negative of a chipboard letter "h" and painted them to match the flowers in the photos. I used eyelet metal letter, and triple matted my favorite photos in the bunch.

I didn't journal and I didn't use additional embellishments because I wanted the photos to do the talking for me. The pages are actually some of my favorite, but I wish these photos of them had turned out better so you could see the detail in the flowers.

Sunday Challenge Card

I decided to make my first card based on a sketch challenge over at Sketch Saturday. If you've never checked them out before they have great sketches to help with your creative juices. My photos aren't the best because I'm still using my cell phone to take them. I have to get the camera back from my hubby. When we moved it ended up in his room, and he's not letting go :)

So, here is my card for the challenge.

I used wanted a vintage, shabby look, and I didn't have the lacy trim in the ivory color, so I ended up distressing the white I had with the ink that I used on the papers. I stamped, water colored and used Stickels on the butterflies. I used vintage looking pearl brads to hold the sentiment to the background.

We're having a housewarming party today so I don't know if I'll get any tutorials posted today. I'm also still sorting through all my supplies and hope to have the Blog Candy ready to go this coming week.

Formula Friday #1 Easel Card

Today I'll share with you my first easel card. I've seen many of these cards, but never attempted making them before. This was my first project in my new stamping/scrapping room. Most of the easel cards that I've seen use brads, or bulky flowers or popped pieces as the "stopper" for the card to stand. This card simply uses a few extra layers of paper. The overall finished card size is A2, (4 1/4 x 5 1/2"). Here is the recipe for my card. (I used all Stampin Up! papers and stamps).

Supplies:

• cardstock for base and layers + stamped image cardstock (I used Whisper White, Melon Mambo, Crushed Curry, & Rich Razzleberry)
• pattern paper (I used Razzleberry Lemonade DSP)
• coordinating ribbon (I used Pumpkin Pie 1/4" grosgrain)
• edge punches (I used Eyelet Border)
• desired embellishments (I used the retired 3 flower punch from Stampin Up! and flat backed pearl minis--not from Stampin Up!)
• desired stamps and stamp pads (Stamps are from Elements of Style and Delight in Life, Stamp pads used: Color Box Yellow Citrus, VersaColor Opera Pink, and Stampin Up! Basic Black and the distressing along the edge of the stamped image was VersaColor Brown).

Instructions:

1. Cut an 8 1/2 x 11" piece of cardstock into two 4 1/4 x 11" ( I used Melon Mambo)
2. Cut one of the pieces from step one in half (4 1/4 to 5 1/2") and set aside--this will become the front of your card
3. Fold the remaining piece from step one in half to make a 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 card with the fold on the top
4. Fold the front piece in half (fold the bottom of the front towards the top fold). This is the piece to which you will adhere the piece from step 2
5. Lay the folded piece of cardstock with the longest side down on the table, and the fold of the "Short" side pointing towards you.
6. Place adhesive on this "Short" folded side of paper
7. Place the top of cardstock from step 2 on top of the adhesive
8. Decorate the front and inside of your card as desired.
9. Place "Stopper" where you want your card to stand--I used three layers of cardstock stacked. You can choose to use anything you'd like that will lift off the base enough to "Catch" the bottom of the card front.

Variations:
You can make these cards any size that you like. Just remember to fold the base in half and you're only limited by your imagination.

Paper Bag Albums--Homemade Gifts

Some special young ladies graduated this year from high school. I've known them since they were six years old, and I decided to make a special gift for their graduation. I made them each a paper bag album for them to take with them to college. The compact 6x6 size works well with dorm room life, and will allow them to bring photos of people they love with them into the beginning of their new worlds.

Paper bag albums are not new creations in my scrapbook room, they are one of my favorite homemade gifts. I make them in a variety of sizes, but the 6x6 is still my favorite.

I love giving these homemade albums as a special personalized gift. I just made one from my cousin with her first baby, and I have seven more baby albums to make! Three girls and four boys. I need to get three of the boy albums completed by next Tuesday. With that said, I'd better go to my scrapbook room and get working on them. :0)

Two Challenge Tuesday # 4

And here is the color piece of the challenge. I thought these were great colors given that summer seems to be quickly fading away. It's been cold here in Minnesota, so I'm trying to warm things up! :)

This is my really quick take on this sketch and color scheme (I literally made this card in 5 minutes). Time was not on my side to get this one done last night. SORRY!

Monday Already?

I can't believe that it is Monday already! I'm lookingforward to an extra day off work this week...I took Friday for a vacation day, and I'm hoping to get a lot done. I've been getting a lot of things started, but not a lot completed. I have to finish my card exchange item for Stamper's 12 on Thursday. I'm hosting, and the theme is Halloween or Fall. I'm making little Halloween treat holders. I'll be sure to post a photo when completed. I'm getting ready to list a family layout and we'll see how it does on eBay. Here is a picture.

eBay-SMIC August Challenge

So my talented friends at SMIC, the design group on eBay, have an August challenge. We were all challenged to create a school layout using yellow or something in three's. As you can see from the pictures below, I've chosen a lot of yellow!

I'm actually really happy with the way these pages came out, but I wish the camera would have cooperated a little more. The pictures don't do the colors justice. I did lots of special details on these. The bus took me almost 3 hours to make! I hand drew it, sanded, chalked, and assembled. I also made is a secert journal/photo holder. If you lift the tires you'll find another space for memories.

Two Challenge Tuesday #1--Color and Sketch Results

Two Challege Tuesday's

This idea came to me last night and I got REALLY excited. I'll post a dual challenge on Tuesday's with my sample for that challenge and then each of you can share your take on the challenge. For example, it may be a color and sketch challege, or a technique and product challenge. My mind is swimming with possibilities and I'm excited to hear what you think!

Warmer Weather and Sunny Days

Well the weather is certainly warming up nicely in Minnesota. Spring is my favorite time of year (for every reason except allergies! ). I love to see the new growth, budding trees, greass turning green, flowers starting to grow, the birds singing and building their nests. It's all a beautiful reminder of the gifts we receive daily.

I've been playing in my room the last few weeks, but I've been really focused on cards and stamping. I only have one scrapbook related item to share with you, and that is a page border. I still love cardstock bears, so of course they made an appearance! Take a peek and let me know your thoughts!

This can be a border set for one page or a double page layout. The title is "Bathing Beauty" Aren't they cute??? I used my Cricut to cut the tub, bubbles, and the ducky. I embellished each with chalk and the bubbles with glitter. I have to also admit that I'm completely addicted to the border punches out there right now. I have a variety of them made by different companies, and I love them all! I love the finishing look it gives the items. Below are close ups of my little bears.

CARDS

I use Stampin Up cardstock in all my cardmaking because it is such a sturdy product and all their papers, ribbons, embellishments, etc. coordinate so nicely together. I use mostly Stampin Up stamp sets as well. I also LOVE Penny Black's hedgehog or Hedgie, as he's lovingly referred to, sets. I just recently added 4 of her sets to my stamp collection. They are nice as they store easily since they are clear acrylic. I still love my Stampin Up ones, but they take much more space to store...Maybe I just need a bigger room. Somehow I don't think suggesting that our master bedroom be converted into my craft room will go over very well with hubby. That was all in jest. I feel incredibly blessed to have the crafting space and supplies that I do. I think I've mentioned to you all before, the reason I sell items on eBay is to feed the habit! Anyway, below are some of the cards I made last week. I tried some new things. 1.) color combinations like pink and orange 2.) decorating the insides of the cards for a more finished product and 3.) square shaped instead of all 4 1/4 x 5 1/2"

Well, that's some of the cards for now. The Father's Day card was inspired by a scrapping friend who lost her father right before Easter. My thoughts and prayers are with her and her family. Her tragic loss reminded me of my dear father who has been gone for so long now. I was 14 when he passed away, and that was 20 years ago this coming October, but the poem on the inside of this card reminds me of my dad. It reads, "A father is neither an anchor to hold us back, nor a sail to take us there, but a guiding light whose love shows us the way." I love you dad!
