Shabby Chic Greeting Card

This is one of my favorite stamp sets from Stampin Up! called Elements of Style.

I made this particular card in honor of Pam who was the Queen for the Day over at SCS for QFTD62.
I chose  to distress my papers, used twine, and antique looking brads to add to the shabby look.  I actually wish I would have inked or chalked the edges as well--note to self for the next shabby card :0)
I cut out the bird image and chalked his tummy with brown.
I used Stampin Up! colors:  Pear Pizzaz, Baja Breeze, and Whisper White.
I used the flourish stamp to stamp the Baja Breeze base as well.

Thanks for looking!

SCS Clean and Simple Greeting Card Challenge

Here is my submission for the Splitcoaststampers (SCS) Clean and Simple (CAS) challenge CAS121.
The photos are HORRIBLE!  The weather is really overcast and humid, and you can't see the real colors very well.  I used Whisper White, and Daffodil Delight.  I really like the color combo and the simplicity of this.
I added texture and buttons for a little "pop"

One last look at the whole card.

Thanks for looking!

SCS Triple Challenge Greeting Card

Today I made a card to meet the needs for 3 challenges over at Splitcoaststampers (SCS).  Later I'll post my CAS (Clean and Simple) challenge card as well.

This card meets the Sketch Challenge (SC334), Color Challenge (CC324) and the Free for All (F4A66) challenge.  The Free for All challenge was to use something we received for free.  In my card, the image is my freebie.  My wonderful friend Norma let me borrow this stamp set (Along the Shore by Stampin Up!).

I added three brads in the left corner.
 Texture!!!
The colors are Very Vanilla, Perfect Plum, Soft Suede, and Baja Breeze.
The pattern paper is from K & Company Sea Glass collection.
I'm really happy with the final results.  I just wish the weather would cooperate better so I could have gotten better pictures; it's very overcast and humid in Minnesota today.

Thanks for looking!

Splitcoaststampers CAS120 Challenge Greeting Card

Today I decided to try a CAS challenge over at Splitcoaststampers.  CAS stands for Clean and Simple...It's not about layers--I know!  I LOVE LAYERS!  I also find that I like simple as well.
I used a $1.00 set of stamps by Studio G that I picked up in the cheap bins at Michael's a few weeks ago.  This is the first time I've inked that set up!
The cirlces under the ribbon is a stamp by Hero Arts (F3084 Row of Jubilee Dots).
The white ribbon is 1/4" Whisper White from Stampin Up! and the brad is a Filigree brad from Stampin Up! as well.
For my first CAS challenge, I'm pretty happy with the end result.  You can see the CAS120 submissions as well as my card here.

Thanks for looking and Happy Stamping!

Featured Stamper Challenge Greeting Card

I've never participated in the Featured Stampers challenges at Splitcoast Stampers, but I decided to participate in FS225 which was a LOT of fun!

Here is the card I ended up creating in honor of RosiGrld at Splitcoast Stampers.

I used scraps from my stash for the blue and green
I used my last pieces of pink polka dot ribbon
The flourish is from Elements of Style and the sentiment is from Whimsical Words from Stampin Up!
I inked the flourish in Pumpkin Pie, and the sentiment in Basic Black.
And I used a bow instead of a knot!
Thanks for looking!  Let me know what you think!

Sunny Friend Greeting Card

I've shared with you that most of my time is being spent on making wedding invitations, so I'm trying to make simple cards when I take my breaks from the invites.
I made this card on Thursday, when the weather here in Minnesota was GORGEOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I used Daffodil Delight, Basic Black, and Whisper White
As usual, I love my embossing folders.  In this case I didn't have pattern paper that matched the yellow.  I'm actually really happy with the outcome of the card.
Of course, I also had to add a button...what can I say?
Here's one more look at the card.

Thanks for looking and please have a happy and safe Memorial Day Weekend!

Handmade Stamped Greeting Card: Feminine Birthday

I'm still sticking to easy cards right now.  We made a good dent in the wedding invitations, but we still have a lot of work yet.  Today I took a break and decided to play with pink and black.  I also stamped up my Perfect Punches set for the first time.  Can you believe it?!?!?

I would have liked to have a wider pink ribbon for the center, but I all I had was 1/4" of the Pretty in Pink.   I may have to switch it out for black or white...I'll see.
I am happy with the EK Success punch behind the birthday sentiment.  I think the pearls finish it perfectly.
I like the eyelet borders for the black and pink layers as well, but I'm not sold on the pattern paper.
Here is a close up of the label--really the only thing I REALLY like about the card.

One more final look at the card.

Thanks for looking.  Let me know what you think.

Handmade Cheery Birthday Greeting Card

I mentioned that I'm working on wedding invitations, so my cards are on the simple side right now.  Today's card is a simple birthday card with some machine stitching, buttons, and embossed paper.  That's it!
I used the versatile set from Stampin Up called Cheery Chat.

I used Always Artichoke, Whisper White, and Night of Navy from Stampin Up, and two pattern papers from Chatterbox.

I've been listing things in my Etsy store, so be sure to check out My Scrap Shack!

Handmade Magnetic Bookmark Tutorial

Today I'm sharing a tutorial with you for a magnetic bookmark.
 The supply list is small:
1 piece of cardstock 2 x 4"
2 squares of pattern paper
2 small square magnetic pieces
1 stamped and cut to square image
adhesive
glue dots
Start by folding your cardstock in half

Place one side of the magnet on the front of the cardstock and the second magnet on the back (allow them to find their negative/positive match to line up properly).
These should look something like this.
 Now apply a glue dot

Apply adhesive and pattern paper over each magnet.

Adhere your stamped image and you're done!
Inexpensive and a great gift idea.
